Opera Bar FAQs

Do I need to book a table?

Opera Bar is predominately a walk-in venue and guests don’t need to book a table to join in the fun. We do take bookings for lunch only, Monday to Thursday. All available booking options are on our website. We do not take any reservations November – January inclusive or during NSW school holidays.

Are organised tour groups welcome?

Organised Tour Groups are welcome at Opera Bar by prior approval/arrangement with venue management.

Are you an accessible venue?

Yes: Site is accessible and there are two accessible toilets available on the Lower Concourse. The closest accessible parking is available at Wilson Car Park located in the Opera House.

What is your family/children policy?

Children under the age of 18 are welcome whilst in the direct company of their parent.

What days are you closed?

Christmas Day - December 25.

Good Friday.

What is your ID policy?

We only accept photo identification in accordance with the NSW Department of Industry. Digital copies of identification are not accepted (ie photo of passport on phone). 

Can I book for a large group?

Large groups are able to walk-in and find a spot on arrival, we have plenty of areas available for large groups. We do not take bookings in the evenings or on weekends.

Public Transport

We are a short walk from Circular Quay which offers ferry, bus and train access.

Can I bring pets?

Animals aren’t permitted at the Sydney Opera House and its restaurants, however assistance animals accompanying patrons with a disability and our working Seagull Patrol Dogs are welcome on site.

Can I bring a cake?

You are welcome to bring celebratory cakes which we will cut and serve.

A charge of $25 per cake will apply.

Is there a dress code?

Our dress code is smart casual.
