• Opera Bar’s New Year’s Eve is an 18+ standing and roaming event. General Admission gets you into the Lower Concourse precinct, including Opera Bar and Winnie’s.
• General Admission doesn’t include access to VIP areas.
• Tickets are limited to 10 per transaction.
• Entry opens at 5:00pm, with last entry at 10:00pm. Arrive after that and we won’t be able to let you in, and your ticket won’t be refunded.
• Once you’re in, that’s it – no pass-outs or re-entry.
• Bring your ticket and valid government-issued photo ID – the name on both needs to match.
• This is a standing and roaming event. Seating is limited, subject to availability, and not guaranteed with your ticket.

We know plans change, so our cancellation policy is more flexible this year.

• Cancellation need to be in writing to hello@operabar.com.au by 12:00pm AEDT, Wednesday 23 December 2026, with the ticket holder’s full name and ticket number.
• Please don’t resell tickets above face value – we’ll cancel resold tickets and refuse entry.
• Cancel before the deadline and we’ll refund your ticket price (booking/platform fees aren’t refundable).
• After the deadline, tickets can’t be cancelled or refunded – and once your ticket’s been used to enter, it’s non-refundable.
• Miss the 10:00pm entry cut-off and your ticket becomes invalid, with no refund.

• All guests are subject to the Sydney Opera House Conditions of Entry – worth a read before you arrive.
• Expect bag checks and security screening on arrival, so build in some extra time.
• Leave outside food and drink at home, including water bottles. We’ll have plenty of water for you inside.
• Prohibited items won’t get past the door.

• This is an 18+ event- everyone attending must be 18 or older.
• Valid photo ID is required for entry.
• The name on your ticket must match the ID you present.

• Need accessibility assistance for you or your group? Let us know ahead of time at hello@operabar.com.au.
• Please aim to give us at least 2 weeks’ notice as arrangements depend on availability.
• Where appropriate, our team can facilitate arranging the Sydney Opera House accessibility service.
• The service is for accessibility, not priority entry – you’ll still need to go through standard security and enter during the advertised window.

• Please follow directions from Opera Bar, Sydney Opera House and security staff throughout the night.
• Responsible Service of Alcohol applies at all times.
• We can refuse service or ask you to leave if you’re intoxicated, disorderly, threatening, behaving inappropriately, or breaching the Sydney Opera House Conditions of Entry.
• We can also refuse entry where ticket or ID requirements aren’t met, including a name mismatch.
• If you’re refused entry or removed for your conduct, you won’t be entitled to a refund.

It’s New Year’s Eve – dress for the occasion.

• Think elevated, celebratory and polished.
• Streetwear, sportswear, tracksuits, beachwear and overly casual attire won’t cut it.
• Thongs, slides, Birkenstocks and similar casual open footwear aren’t permitted – please wear appropriate shoes.

Event Timings:

• 4:00pm – site opens for queuing
• 5:00pm – event starts
• 5:30pm (approx.) – food service begins
• 9:00pm – fireworks
• Midnight – fireworks
• 2:00am – event concludes

Your ticket includes 

• Full event access from 5:00pm to 2:00am
• A premium entertainment program
• Premium roaming canapés – a mix of light, hot and substantial bites
• A drink on arrival included as part of the package
• Access to multiple bars across the precinct, with drinks available for purchase
• Views of both the 9:00pm and midnight fireworks
• The immersive Under the Southern Sky styling across the precinct

The program, entertainment, food, beverage offerings, layout and timings may change without notice. Changes to any individual element don’t automatically entitle you to a refund.

• Food service kicks off around 5:30pm, with a premium roaming canapé offering included in your ticket.
• Our menu celebrates local Australian producers
• Additional drinks are available for purchase from bars across the precinct.
• No BYO alcohol, food or drink is permitted.
• Water is available throughout the venue.
• If you have a specific allergens, please contact hello@operabar.com.au in advance so we can discuss how we can best assist. Guests with allergies may not be eligible to partake in the roaming canape service however we will provide a separate offering where possible.

Our menu contains allergens and is prepared in a kitchen that handles nuts, shellfish, and gluten. While we make every reasonable effort to accommodate guests’ dietary needs, we cannot guarantee that our food will be completely allergen-free. 

• This is an outdoor event and will go ahead in most weather, as long as it’s safe and reasonable to do so.
• If severe weather, safety concerns, government direction, venue requirements or anything else outside our reasonable control means the event can’t safely proceed, we may cancel, postpone or change it.
• If we cancel, we’ll notify ticket holders of any refund arrangements.
• Changes to weather, entertainment, food and beverage offerings, layout, fireworks viewing or any other individual element of the night don’t automatically entitle you to a refund.

Photography, filming and other recording may take place throughout the event.
By attending, you acknowledge you may be photographed or filmed, and that the resulting imagery or footage may be used for promotional, marketing and social media purposes by us and our event partners, subject to applicable privacy requirements.

Please keep your belongings with you throughout the night. Opera Bar, Applejack Hospitality and Sydney Opera House aren’t responsible for lost, stolen or damaged personal belongings, except where liability can’t legally be excluded.

Found property will be handed to Sydney Opera House Stage Door the following day.

New Year’s Eve is one of the busiest nights of the year in Sydney, so plan your journey well in advance.

• Expect significant road closures across the city.
• Public transport services, routes and timetables may change.
• Wilson Parking at Sydney Opera House will be closed.
• Please allow extra travel time and check transport information before heading into the city.

We’ll share more detailed transport and access information closer to the event.

Personal information collected in connection with ticket purchases and attendance is handled in accordance with the Opera Bar/Applejack Hospitality Privacy Policy and the Sydney Opera House Privacy Policy. 

These Terms & Conditions should be read together with the Sydney Opera House Conditions of Entry and any applicable ticketing platform terms.

Opera Bar’s New Year’s Eve celebrations are only for paid ticket event holders.

Tickets go on sale 8:30am Wednesday 16th September, AEST. There is only one release of tickets.

• Entry via Macquarie Street ONLY (cross-city access via Bent Street)

• SOH Security Gates open: 4:00pm – 10:00pm (last entry strictly 10pm — latecomers will NOT be admitted)
• Look out for our OPERA BAR Ticketing squad on Macquarie Street and have your ticket ready (no screenshots accepted). The ticketing squad will check your ID, check your ticket, and give you your wristband. If you don’t find the team before you reach the Opera Bar party, don’t worry, we will have an additional ticketing squad at the entrance.
• Once guests are through the Sydney Opera House security entrance, look out for the OPERA BAR signs. You will be guided through a queue that takes you to the Opera Bar party entrance, where we will check your wristband before entering.
  As a condition of entry, bag inspections and electronic screening may be carried out at the entry to the site. Please follow the directions of Opera House staff and security. 

• Event ticket holders can enter the Sydney Opera House precinct from 4pm, however Opera Bar NYE doesn’t commence until 5pm.
• We recommend arriving as close to 5pm as possible to avoid large crowds heading into the city later in the evening.
• Live entertainment begins at 5pm with a full lineup of bands, DJs, roaming performers, and immersive experiences throughout the night – arrive early to make the most of your evening!

The event concludes at 2:00am. All guests must vacate the venue and Sydney Opera House precinct by 2am. Please be respectful of our neighbours and the surrounding community when departing.

All tickets will be scanned on Macquarie Street, prior to entry to the Sydney Opera House site. Screenshots of tickets will not be accepted.

There are no cloaking or storage facilities available on the night. We recommend bringing only essential items. Opera Bar and Sydney Opera House are not responsible for lost or stolen belongings.

As per the Sydney Opera House Conditions Of Entry, for security screening at entry, guests should be aware the below are not permitted:

• Outside food and beverages
• Alcohol (BYO)
• Glass or metal containers, including reusable water bottles
• Handbags bigger than A4-size, backpacks (no cloaking available)
• Large umbrellas (more than 125cm diameter)
• Sunshades, tent structures and portable chairs
• Professional cameras / recording equipment
• Laser pointers
• Selfie sticks
• Drones
• Weapons or illegal substances
• Offensive signage or clothing
  Note: All bags will be x-ray scanned. Travel light — if items are prohibited, guests can leave with them but they won’t be held for collection. 

Please note that external furniture is not permitted at the event. We will have scattered seating available throughout the venue on a first-come, first-served basis. As this is a roving festival-style event, we encourage you to move around and explore.

• Several unforgettable NYE experiences are taking place at the Opera House to welcome the
arrival of 2026.
• There will be the Forecourt vantage point which offers prime position for eventgoers to
witness the 9pm and midnight fireworks.
• Paid ticket events are taking place across the Opera House’s restaurants and bars including
Opera Bar, Yallamundi Rooms, Bennelong and Midden. There will also be spectacular
performances from Opera Australia in the Concert Hall and Joan Sutherland Theatre, along with the ABC NYE Concert being broadcast live from the Northern Broadwalk.

Unfortunately not. The Opera House can only be accessed by patrons who have secured a ticket in the lead up to the day.

There is no access to the Royal Botanic Gardens or Tarpeian Way via the Opera House on
New Year’s Eve. For access to the Royal Botanic Gardens, please check the Royal Botanic Gardens’ website.

There are ATM facilities available at Opera Bar on New Year’s Eve. Please bring a credit or debit card for any on-site purchases to assist with swift transactions and alleviating queue times.
